About Seerlinq

Filling-pressure monitoring for every heart failure patient

Seerlinq is a Slovak medical technology company that makes hemodynamic monitoring in heart failure possible without an implant. Co-founded in 2022 by cardiologist Assoc. Prof. Allan Böhm, who leads the company, cardiac surgeon Branislav Bezák and our CTO Nikola Jajcay, we developed Seerlinq HeartCore.

It estimates left ventricular filling pressure, one of the earliest signals of worsening heart failure, from a 4-minute fingertip measurement at home. HeartCore is CE-certified under the EU MDR as a Class IIb medical device, validated against right heart catheterisation and published in JACC: Heart Failure. It is reimbursed in Slovakia and Germany. From our office in Bratislava, we work with clinics, researchers and partners to bring pressure-guided heart failure care to more patients.

Our reason

Why we built HeartCore

Heart failure telemonitoring has traditionally relied on body weight, vital signs and symptoms. Results from large randomised trials have been mixed. One reason is timing: these signals often change only once congestion is well established, leaving little time to act.

Left ventricular filling pressure rises earlier, often weeks before symptoms. Heart failure care guided by filling pressure has been associated with better quality of life, fewer hospitalisations and improved survival. Until now, though, it required an implanted sensor: an invasive procedure, antithrombotic therapy and a high cost that limits it to expert centres.

We set out to make the same insight available without a procedure, using a simple pulse oximeter and a smartphone, so that pressure-guided care can reach every patient who needs it, not only those who can get an implant.

What's next

From one test to a platform

Our goal is to turn widely available PPG sensors, from pulse oximeters to smartwatches, into a platform for early detection and monitoring of cardiovascular disease.

  • Bringing our heart failure remote monitoring to more countries through clinical partners and distributors
  • Integrating our algorithm into other remote monitoring and telehealth platforms, so care teams can use it in the systems they already work with
  • Heart failure screening from a single measurement, starting with first partners
  • Bringing our algorithm to smartwatches with leading manufacturers
  • Pursuing FDA clearance and preparing for US market entry
  • Working towards certification of our PPG-based atrial fibrillation algorithm
  • Researching further applications, including other arrhythmias and anaemia
